NeuralWatt for Hermes
Check your NeuralWatt account without leaving Hermes.
The plugin can look up service health, available models, your balance, request
costs, energy use, and session activity.
Examples:
- "How much did I spend on NeuralWatt this week?"
- "Which models have I used most?"
- "How much energy did my last session use?"
- "Is NeuralWatt having API problems?"
Install
From the Hermes plugin catalog:
hermes plugins install neuralwatt
From this repository:
hermes plugins install 0xGingi/neuralwatt-hermes
hermes plugins enable neuralwatt
Service health and the public model list work without credentials. For account
usage, add your API key from the NeuralWatt Portal
to ~/.hermes/.env:
NEURALWATT_API_KEY=sk-...
The API URL defaults to https://api.neuralwatt.com. Set NEURALWATT_BASE_URL
if you need to use a different endpoint.
Tools
| Tool | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| neuralwatt_health | Check the API gateway, database, Redis, and uptime. |
| neuralwatt_models | List public models, plus private models when authenticated. |
| neuralwatt_quota | Check your balance, subscription allowance, and rate limits. |
| neuralwatt_energy | Show energy use and carbon estimates by day. |
| neuralwatt_usage | Summarize cost, tokens, and energy by model or API key. |
| neuralwatt_requests | List individual requests with cost, tokens, energy, and latency. |
| neuralwatt_sessions | List sessions, inspect one session, or group related agent sessions. |
All tools are read-only. Request and session history must be enabled on your
NeuralWatt account. A 404 from those endpoints can mean the feature is not
enabled. Request and session queries cover at most 30 days at a time.
Privacy and security
- The plugin makes GET requests to the configured NeuralWatt API only.
- Account tools read balances, usage, cost, energy, and session metrics. The
analytics API returns counts, timings, energy figures, and identifiers, not
prompt or completion text. NEURALWATT_API_KEYis loaded at call time through Hermes's secret scope and
sent only as the bearer token for the configured API.- The plugin writes no data, reads no credential files, runs no shell commands,
and starts no background jobs. - Service health and model discovery do not send an API key.
Development
The plugin uses only the Python standard library.
python -m unittest discover -s tests -v
hermes plugins validate . --install-deps
hermes plugins doctor .
The tests use mocked HTTP responses and do not need a NeuralWatt API key.
